Angie (Kammer) Simpson is a Penn State All-American and former professional beach volleyball athlete whose coaching foundation is rooted in a Hall of Fame coaching lineage and as a network sports broadcaster.
Angie (Kammer) Simpson is the Head Women’s Beach Volleyball Coach at Southeastern Louisiana University. A Penn State All-American and former professional beach volleyball athlete, Simpson brings elite competitive experience and a Hall of Fame coaching tree to the Lady Lions program. She developed under some of the most influential coaches in collegiate volleyball history, including Russ Rose, Dave Shondell, Steve Shondell, and Anna Collier, all members of the AVCA Hall of Fame. Her coaching philosophy leverages championship-level standards, athlete-centered development, and the technical expertise required to lead a NCAA Division I volleyball program.
Angie (Kammer) Simpson grew up in Muncie, Indiana, where she led her high school team to being ranked #1 in USA Today High School Volleyball Rankings three times (Muncie Burris Owls) 1989, 1990, & 1992. Additionally, Simpson won 3 IHSAA Indiana State Championships, and touted a 4 year winning record of 162-1.
Simpson earned Volleyball All-American honors in 1988, 1990, and 1992, & 1996 (every level of the game throughout indoor career), and received a a full-ride Athletic Scholarship to Penn State in 1993. Simpson was honored as an NCAA All-American in 1996 and chosen for 1995 and 1996 All Big Ten Team. During Simpson's career at Penn State, she contributed to Penn State's first two NCAA Final Four Appearances (Runner Up 1993 & Semi Finalist 1994), and two Big Ten Championship rings (1993 & 1996).
After graduating from Penn State with a degree in broadcast journalism, Simpson relocated to San Diego, CA, to pursue the sport of beach volleyball professionally. Simpson was recognized by USA Volleyball as a 2000 “Future Olympian” grant recipient in the sport of beach volleyball, and partnered regularly with Jennifer Kessy, who went on to win the Silver Medal for the United States in 2012.
