Draft:Alapra

  • Comment: Presented sources are not reliable. See WP:RS. Hitro talk 10:44, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: We need some sourcing here to establish notability. For a basic entry about a place this should not be difficult provided the village is listed in the official Census of India - that needs to be linked in, and will fulfill WP:NPLACE. The other material mentioned also needs a good source, see WP:REFB. A bit more work and it should be OK. ChrysGalley (talk) 17:27, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

Alapra is a village located in the south-east of Kottayam district .[1] The biggest feature of this village is the Thachirikkal Bhagavathi temple located near the forest.

Thacharikkal sree bhadrakali temple alapra[2]

This is a temple where the ritual art form of Central Travancore, Padayani , is performed without losing its originality with vadakkan and thekkan chittas coordination. The Padayani at Thacharikkal temple is led by the Alapra Sree Bhadra Padayani Sangam. The Padayani is a seven-day event that ends on the Rohini day of the Meenam month.

Nestled in the serene forests of Alapra,

Oottupara[3] Tourist Spot offers an enchanting escape into nature's embrace. This hidden gem, located approximately 45 kilometers from Kottayam, captivates visitors with its breathtaking views and tranquil atmosphere. The spot is characterized by its lush greenery, cascading streams, and majestic rock formations, providing an idyllic backdrop for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Oottupara is not just a visual delight; it is steeped in history and legend, believed to be a place where Lord Rama once visited. Reaching the summit involves a rewarding trek through the forest, approximately 1.5 to 2 kilometers, where the sounds of nature create a symphony that enhances the experience. The top of the rock offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, making it a perfect spot for photography and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy the serenity of the area while exploring the untouched beauty of the reserve forest. Low environmental pollution levels add to the allure, making it an excellent choice for those seeking peace away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Oottupara is ideal for weekend getaways or leisurely evening strolls, encouraging visitors to disconnect from daily routines and immerse themselves in nature's splendor.[4]

Major places of worship

Kottayam manimala alapra tacharikkal padayani

On the first day of the festival, at nine o'clock in the night, the goddess is invited to the temple by lighting a green tap and placing a sword and a pedestal in the corner of the temple. After the two days of the festival, the festival is completed in seven days with Ganapathikolam, Panchakolam, Adavi, Edapadayani and Valiyapadayani, and concludes with the darshan on the eighth day in the morning. The Padayani of the Alapra Thacharikkal Sree Bhadrakali temple[5] combines the northern and southern styles of Padayani.[6]
