Draft:Aidy Smith

  • Comment: The draft is well-written. However, for a standalone biography, Wikipedia requires multiple, high-quality, independent secondary sources that provide a deep analysis of his career. Currently, many sources are either interviews or announcements of new deals. To improve this, look for long-form profiles in national newspapers or critical reviews of his work that aren't just 'The Three Drinkers' press materials. Adrian Smith, known professionally as Aidy Smith, is a British television presenter, journalist and producer. He co-created and co-presents the travel and drinks television series The Three Drinkers, and has been profiled in BBC News and Deadline on his career and his work raising awareness of Tourette syndrome.[1][2][3]

Television

Smith co-created The Three Drinkers with Helena Nicklin and Colin Hampden-White. The first series, The Three Drinkers Do Scotch Whisky, was reviewed in the trade title The Buyer in December 2018.[4] Subsequent series include The Three Drinkers in Ireland (2022) and The Three Drinkers in Cognac (2023), made available on Amazon Prime Video.[5][6] The Three Drinkers in Ireland won Best Contribution to Wine and Spirits Tourism at the 2022 Drinks Business Awards.[7]

In November 2025 Smith signed a co-development deal with Electric Robin, a Banijay UK label, to develop unscripted formats around food, drink and neurodiversity.[8]

Journalism and radio

Smith has written on wine, spirits and travel for British national press.[3] In 2022 he presented the BBC Radio 4 documentary The Truth About Tourette's.[9] He has also presented Thirsty Thursdays, a fortnightly food-and-drink strand on BBC Radio London.[9]

Mentorship and advocacy

In 2023 Smith launched DRINKLUSIVE, a mentorship scheme for drinks writers from under-represented backgrounds, run with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.[10][11] The Drinks Business has profiled his work on inclusion in the drinks trade.[3] Smith has spoken publicly about living with Tourette syndrome and has been profiled by BBC News on the subject.[1][2] In 2026 he was named on Attitude's "Attitude 101" list in the media and broadcast category.[12]
