Adnan Atalay (born 1952, Kayseri) is a Turkish music educator, musicologist, and composer.[1][2]
He has published textbooks on music theory and notation, as well as choral and piano score collections.[3][4][5]
Education and career
Atalay completed the Music Seminar Program of the Ankara Boys’ Primary Teachers’ School in 1970 and graduated from the Music Department of the Gazi Education Institute in 1973.[1][2]
He later served at the same institution in music theory (harmony and counterpoint) and ear training.[6]
He subsequently joined the Department of Musicology at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Ege University.[7]
In 1983, he was appointed a lecturer in the Department of Music at Dokuz Eylül University’s Buca Faculty of Education.[2]
In 1989, he completed a master's degree in musicology at Dokuz Eylül University’s Institute of Social Sciences with a thesis titled Geleneksel Türk Sanat Musikisinde Perde Dizgeleri ("Pitch Systems in Traditional Turkish Art Music").[8][9]
He also received a Proficiency in Art (Turkish: sanatta yeterlik), a doctoral-level postgraduate degree, in musicology.[10][2]

Atalay has published textbooks and reference works on music theory and notation, as well as scholarly articles on Turkish music theory and musicology.
