APWireless Infrastructure Partners, LLC
APWireless Infrastructure Partners, LLC (commonly known as APWireless) is a telecommunications infrastructure and digital infrastructure investment company that acquires and manages long-term lease and revenue interests associated with wireless infrastructure and network infrastructure assets. The company operates internationally and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Radius Global Infrastructure, Inc.
History
APWireless Infrastructure Partners, LLC was founded in 2010 and began investing in cell site lease agreements and wireless site leases from its headquarters in San Diego, California. The company focused on acquiring long-term contractual interests associated with wireless communications infrastructure and telecom real estate, and gradually expanded its activities beyond the United States, building an international portfolio of telecommunications lease interests across Europe, North America, South America, and Australia.
By the early 2010s, APWireless was associated with larger institutional investment activity in the wireless infrastructure sector. In 2013, private equity firm KKR announced an investment in wireless infrastructure businesses managed by Associated Partners, a platform linked to APWireless’s operations. The transaction, reported to be valued at approximately $100 million, was covered by independent telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and infrastructure investment publications, reflecting growing institutional interest in wireless real estate assets and telecom lease portfolios. In February 2020, APWireless Infrastructure Partners, LLC became a subsidiary of Radius Global Infrastructure, Inc. following its acquisition via Landscape Acquisition Holdings of the company for $860 million. After the transaction, APWireless continued to operate as Radius Global’s primary platform for telecom infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and wireless lease acquisition and management. (5)
On September 21, 2023, Radius Global Infrastructure was acquired by EQT Active Core Infrastructure and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $3.0 billion. Following the acquisition, Radius Global became privately held, and its shares ceased trading on the NASDAQ stock exchange. APWireless continued operating within the Radius Global corporate structure after the transaction. (3) (4)
Operations
APWireless focuses on the acquisition and long-term management of real property interests underlying telecommunications infrastructure and digital connectivity networks. Its portfolio includes lease interests associated with ground-based sites, wireless towers, rooftop antenna installations, central offices, switching centers, fiber aggregation points, distributed antenna systems (DAS), and data centers.
The company’s investment model generally involves acquiring the rights to future rental income or recurring revenue streams from property owners or infrastructure stakeholders in exchange for an upfront payment, a structure often referred to as lease monetization. APWireless manages these telecom lease interests over extended contractual terms.
Ownership
APWireless Infrastructure Partners, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Radius Global Infrastructure, Inc., which is owned by EQT Active Core Infrastructure and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board.
