APOLLO Insurance

APOLLO Insurance (legally Apollo Insurance Solutions Ltd.) is a Canadian digital brokerage and managing general agent (MGA) headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia.

APOLLO offers consumer and small-business insurance through its proprietary platform, the APOLLO Exchange. The platform facilitates digital insurance transactions, allowing users to quote, bind, and issue policies online without traditional paper-based processes. APOLLO provides a range of digital insurance products for individuals and small businesses, including tenant insurance for renters.

Its tenant insurance policies are distributed both directly to consumers and through partnerships with property managers, real estate investment trusts (REITs), landlords, and property management software.

APOLLO's embedded insurance strategy integrates digital insurance offerings into third-party platforms, allowing tenants and consumers to purchase coverage during related transactions such as signing a lease.[1][2]

History

APOLLO was founded in 2017 by Jeff McCann, David Dyck, Justin Hamade, and Drew Green in Vancouver, British Columbia. [2]

In April 2019, the company launched the APOLLO Exchange following a CAD $1 million angel funding round. This cloud-based digital marketplace enables brokers to quote, bind, and issue policies online across multiple product classes. The platform is also used for embedded distribution through white-label integrations with property managers, professional associations, and other partners. [2]

The same year, it rebranded from "Digital MGA Marketplace Ltd." to "APOLLO Insurance Solutions Ltd."[3]

In December 2021, APOLLO secured CAD $13.5 million Series A round led by Gravitas Securities, with participation from Trisura Group and Liberty Mutual Insurance.[4]

In March 2022, APOLLO received an undisclosed strategic investment from Definity Financial Corporation.[5]

In the same year, APOLLO integrated with Yardi Systems to enable instant insurance transactions and automate compliance, with real time tracking and alerts for property managers.[1]

In May 2024, APOLLO announced the launch of FinShore, a buy now pay later (BNPL) subsidiary focused on providing monthly payment options for insurance. The company raised CAD $18.5 million to support FinShore's operations, with coverage noting its role in expanding APOLLO's financial services offerings.[6][7]
