Aaron Flint

Aaron Helland Flint (born circa 1980) is an American politician, combat veteran and radio host.[1] Flint is the Republican nominee for Montana's 1st congressional district in the 2026 election.[2]

Early life and education

Flint grew up in Glasgow, Montana and in Flathead County, Montana. A fifth-generation Montanian, Flint's family homesteaded near Opheim and Niarada, Montana.

Military career

Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Flint enlisted in the military. He spent more than 20 years serving in the United States Army National Guard and United States Army Reserve. During his service, Flint led combat patrols in Iraq and Afghanistan. He later joined special operations units supporting counterterrorism missions in Africa and the Middle East.[3]

Flint received two Bronze Star Medals for his service and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.[4]

Radio career

After returning from Afghanistan, Flint hosted the statewide talk show Voices of Montana from 2009 to 2015. He previously worked in television at Q2 News.[5] Since 2017, Flint has hosted Montana Talks, where he discusses political and local issues with callers across the state.

Flint earned a spot in the Montana Rodeo Hall of Fame and was honored with their first-ever "Great Montana Western Media Award."[6][7]

Politics

Flint launched his campaign for Montana's 1st congressional district on March 2, 2026. Shortly after entering the race, he received endorsements from President Donald J. Trump[8], Congressman Ryan Zinke, Congressman Troy Downing, Senator Tim Sheehy, and Governor Greg Gianforte, along with several Montana public servants.[4]

House Republican leaders, including Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain, also endorsed his campaign.

Flint's platform emphasizes land conservation, housing affordability, and the protection of Montana’s cultural heritage. He supports an "America First" approach to foreign policy and advocates for keeping public lands under public ownership. He has also stated that Montana’s history, heritage, and way of life should be protected from outside influences.

Before running for Congress, Flint worked on the 2016 campaign of Greg Gianforte for Governor and was State Director for Congressman Ryan Zinke (MT-AL) in 2016-2017 prior to deploying to Africa.[9]

On June 2, 2026, Flint won the Republican primary for Montana's western U.S. House seat.[10]

Personal life

Flint graduated from the University of Montana, where he met his wife, Jessica, with whom he has three children. While attending the university, he served as student body president.

Flint began working in politics at the age of 19 as a staffer for Senator Conrad Burns.[11]
