Η Wikimapia είναι ένα υπολειτουργικό συνεργατικό εγχείρημα δημιουργίας χαρτών ανοικτού περιεχομένου με σκοπό τον γεωγραφικό εντοπισμό και την περιγραφή όλων των τοποθεσιών στη Γη. Συνδυάζει έναν αλληλεπιδραστικό διαδικτυακό χάρτη με ένα γεωγραφικό περιβάλλον επεξεργασίας wiki.[1]
Ιστορία
Το Wikimapia δημιουργήθηκε στις 24 Μαΐου 2006 από δύο Ρώσους, τον Αλεξάντρ Κόριακιν και τον Ευγένιβ Σαβέλιεβ.[2] Μέχρι τον Μάιο του 2014 πάνω από 23.000.000 γεωγραφικά αντικείμενα είχαν καταγραφεί από συμμετέχοντες.[3]
