Incertae sedis

Ο λατινικός όρος incertae sedis (που σημαίνει «αβέβαιης τοποθέτησης»[1]) χρησιμοποιείται στη συστηματική ταξινόμηση όταν οι ευρύτερες σχέσεις μίας ταξινομικής βαθμίδας δεν είναι δυνατόν να προσδιοριστούν ή είναι εντελώς άγνωστες.[2]Εναλλακτικά, τέτοιες ομάδες αναφέρονται και ως «αινιγματικά τάξα».[3] Στην ανοιχτή ονοματολογία (open nomenclature) η αβεβαιότητα σε συγκεκριμένη βαθμίδα μπορεί να ονομαστεί αναλόγως: incertae familiae (αβέβαιης οικογένειας), σε incerti subordinis (αβέβαιης υποτάξης) ή incerti ordinis (αβέβαιης τάξης) ή με παρόμοιους όρους.[4]
