IEC 62304

Το διεθνές πρότυπο IEC 62304 – λογισμικό ιατρικής συσκευής – διαδικασίες κύκλου ζωής λογισμικού [1] είναι ένα πρότυπο το οποίο καθορίζει τις απαιτήσεις του κύκλου ζωής για την ανάπτυξη του ιατρικού λογισμικού και λογισμικού εντός ιατρικών συσκευών. Εναρμονίζεται με την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (Ε.Ε.)[2] και τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες Αμερικής (Η.Π.Α),[3] και, επομένως, μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί ως ένα ως ένα σημείο αναφοράς για συμμόρφωση με τις ρυθμιστικές απαιτήσεις από αυτές τις δύο Αγορές.

Επιπτώσεις του IEC 62304 για το λογισμικό

Το πρότυπο IEC 62304 απαιτεί ορισμένες προφυλάξεις με τη χρήση του λογισμικού, ιδιαίτερα το λογισμικό αγνώστου προέλευσης, (software of unknown pedigree or provenance), που ονομάζεται SOUP στο πρότυπο. Το πρότυπο περιγράφει ένα μοντέλο αποφάσεων με βάση το ρίσκο για το πότε η χρήση του SOUP είναι αποδεκτή, και ορίζει απαιτήσεις δοκιμών για το SOUP για να υποστηρίζει ένα σκεπτικό με βάση το οποίο θα πρέπει να χρησιμοποιηθεί το εν λόγω λογισμικό.[4]
