CryptGenRandom

Το CryptGenRandom είναι κρυπτογραφικά ασφαλής λειτουργία δημιουργίας ψευδοτυχαίων αριθμών που περιλαμβάνεται στο Microsoft CryptoAPI. Έγγραφο του 2007 από το Εβραϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο υποστήριζε ότι υπήρχαν προβλήματα ασφαλείας στην εφαρμογή της λειτουργίας στα Windows 2000 (υποθέτοντας ότι ο επιτιθέμενος έχει τον έλεγχο του μηχανήματος). Η Microsoft αναγνώρισε αργότερα ότι τα ίδια προβλήματα υπάρχουν στα Windows XP, αλλά όχι στα Vista. Η Microsoft κυκλοφόρησε μια λύση για το σφάλμα με το Windows XP Service Pack 3 στα μέσα του 2008.[1]
