AirDrop

Το AirDrop είναι υπηρεσία ad hoc στα λειτουργικά συστήματα iOS και macOS της Apple Inc, που εισήχθη στο Mac OS X Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) και στο iOS 7,[1], η οποία δίνει τη δυνατότητα μία συσκευή να μεταφέρει αρχεία μεταξύ υποστηριζόμενων υπολογιστών Macintosh και συσκευών iOS από μέσα ασύρματης επικοινωνίας κοντινής εμβέλειας. Αυτή η επικοινωνία πραγματοποιείται μέσω "πλαισίων δράσης" και "πλαισίων δεδομένων" της Apple Wireless Direct Link χρησιμοποιώντας μια δημιουργημένη σύνδεση-τοπικές διευθύνσεις IPv6 αντί για τη σταθερή διεύθυνση MAC του Wi-Fi.[2]

Η Apple δεν θέτει κανένα όριο στο μέγεθος του αρχείου που μπορεί να μεταφέρει το AirDrop.
