Trixodes obesus ist ein Zweiflügler aus der Familie der Raupenfliegen (Tachinidae). Die Art wurde 1902 von dem US-amerikanischen Entomologen Daniel William Coquillett erstbeschrieben und der neu eingeführten Gattung Trixodes zugeordnet.[1] Das lateinische Art-Epitheton obesus bedeutet „beleibt“. Der Gattungsname Trixodes nimmt Bezug auf die Gattung Trixa. Die monotypische Gattung Trixodes wird der Tribus Dexiini innerhalb der Unterfamilie Dexiinae zugeordnet.[2]

Merkmale

Es handelt sich um etwa 16–19 mm lange Fliegen.[1] Coquillett (1902) lieferte eine Beschreibung der Gattung und Typusart.[1]

Verbreitung

Trixodes obesus kommt in den US-Bundesstaaten Arizona und New Mexico im Südwesten der Vereinigten Staaten sowie in Mexiko vor.[2][3]

Lebensweise

Trixodes obesus ist ein Endoparasitoid. Wirte sind offenbar noch nicht bekannt.
