Transvestigation

Transvestigation (Kofferwort aus transgender und investigation) bezeichnet eine Verschwörungstheorie, nach der zahlreiche Prominente angeblich ihr Geburtsgeschlecht verbergen würden.[1] Befürworter meinen, dies anhand von Fotos oder Videos erkennen zu können; die angewandten Methoden beruhen jedoch meist auf Pareidolie und Bestätigungsfehlern.[2]

Zu den wiederholt betroffenen Persönlichkeiten gehören u. a. Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Margot Robbie, Michelle Obama, Serena Williams und die französische Präsidentengattin Brigitte Macron.[3][4] Macron leitete mehrfach juristische Schritte ein; 2024 wurden zwei Frauen wegen Verleumdung verurteilt, das Urteil jedoch 2025 in zweiter Instanz aufgehoben.[5]

Im Zuge der Olympischen Spiele 2024 rückte die Theorie erneut in den Fokus, nachdem Athletinnen wie Imane Khelif Ziel entsprechender Anschuldigungen wurden.[6]

Befürworter knüpfen die Theorie teils an weitergehende Narrative wie eine angebliche Elite Gender Inversion durch Hollywood oder den Illuminatenorden.[7] Organisationen wie GLAAD bewerten Transvestigation als Form von Transphobie.[1]
