Toonsylvania (Alternativtitel: Steven Spielberg presents: Toonsylvania) ist eine US-amerikanische Zeichentrickserie, die zwischen 1998 und 2000 produziert wurde.
Handlung
Der böse Dr. Frankenstein lebt in einer unheimlichen Burg in „Toonsylvanien“, hoch über dem Trans Fernando Valley und treibt dort sein Unwesen. Außerdem dort leben sein Laborassistent Igor und die von Frankenstein erschaffene Kreatur, das dumpfbackige und liebenswerte Monster Phil. Die drei erleben viele lustige Erlebnisse und Abenteuer und sorgen dafür ab und an für Chaos. Des Weiteren wird die Familie „Deadmen“ gezeigt, welches aus Vater, Mutter und zwei Kindern besteht, die Zombies sind.
Produktion und Veröffentlichung
Die Serie wurde zwischen 1998 und 2000 von DreamWorks Animation in den Vereinigten Staaten produziert, mit Jeff DeGrandis als Produzent sowie Bill Kopp und Steven Spielberg als Executive Producers. Dabei sind 2 Staffeln mit 21 Folgen entstanden.
Erstmals wurde die Serie am 7. Februar 1998 auf FOX ausgestrahlt. Die deutsche Erstausstrahlung fand am 7. November 2001 auf Hr-fernsehen statt. Weitere Wiederholungen im deutschsprachigen Fernsehen erfolgten auf Das Erste, ORF eins und SF zwei.
