Theodore Snook

Theodore Snook (geb. 14. April 1907 in Titusville; gest. 5. September 2002 in Lee’s Summit) war ein US-amerikanischer Zoologe, Anatom und Hochschullehrer an der University of North Dakota.[1]

Leben

Snook besuchte die Titusville Grammar School, anschließend die Lambertville High School und zwei weitere Jahre die Mount Herman School in Massachusetts. Nach Schulende 1925 ging er an die Rutgers University und erwarb 1929 den Bachelor und 1930 den Master in Zoologie. Anschließend ging er an die Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, und unterrichtete hier Histologie und Embryologie. 1933 erwarb er hier den Ph.D. mit einer Arbeit über die Entwicklung der Rachenmandeln beim Menschen. Anschließend war Snook zwölf Jahre an der Syracuse University, drei Jahre an der Tulane University und drei weitere Jahre in Pittsburgh tätig, bevor er an die University of North Dakota wechselte. Hier war er 24 Jahre, davon von 1971 bis 1976 als Professor und Leiter der Anatomie, tätig. 1977 wurde er emeritiert.[1]

1980 zog er nach Racine, Minnesota, um näher bei seiner Tochter zu wohnen.[1]

Snooks Hauptforschungsgebiet war die Histologie der Milz der Säugetiere; er verfasste über sie 30 Arbeiten.[1] 1963 trennte er begrifflich die Anteile der weißen Milzpulpa.[2] Er war Mitglied der American Association of Anatomists, der Biological Photographic Association, von Sigma Xi, der North Dakota Academy of Science und der American Association of University Professors.[1]
