Spongdal ist eine Ortschaft in der norwegischen Kommune Trondheim in der Provinz (Fylke) Trøndelag. Der Ort hat 526 Einwohner (Stand: 1. Januar 2025).[1]

Geografie und Verkehr

Spongdal ist ein sogenannter Tettsted, also eine Ansiedlung, die für statistische Zwecke als eine städtische Siedlung gewertet wird.[1] Die Ortschaft liegt südwestlich des Trondheimer Stadtgebiets und geht in den Stadtteil Heimdal ein.[2]

In Spongdal treffen der Fylkesvei 707 und der Fylkesvei 6652 aufeinander. Der Fylkesvei 707 stellt in Richtung Südosten die Anbindung zur Europastraße 6 (E6) her.[2]

Name

Der Ortsname setzt sich aus den beiden Bestandteilen „spong“ und „-dal“ (deutsch „-tal“) zusammen. Der Namensbestandteil „spong“ leitet sich von einem Dialektwort für „Brücke“ ab.[3]
