Schizophrys ist eine Gattung der Dreieckskrabben mit sieben Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone und den Schelf in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 126 m in der gemäßigten Klimazone des Nordwestpazifiks, im Indopazifik und in der gemäßigten Klimazone Australiens.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis zu 59 mm lang und mit Höckern besetzt. Die Seitenränder sind stachlig. Die beiden Dornen des Rostrums (mittiger Stirnfortsatz) tragen ein oder zwei seitliche Nebendornen. Das obere Augenhöhlendach ist mit einem hervorstehenden antorbitalen (vorn an der Augenhöhle gelegenen) Dorn bewehrt, der vordere Augenhöhlenwinkel ist glatt und abgerundet. Der postorbitale (hinter der Augenhöhle gelegene) Lappen hat einen basalen Zusatzzahn. Ein Fortsatz am Ursprung des basalen Antennenglieds trennt die Antennengeißel von der Augenhöhle.[2]

Systematik

Die Gattung wird in die Unterfamilie Majinae eingeordnet und umfasst folgende rezente Arten:[1]

Synonyme sind Maja (Dione) De Haan, 1839 und Mithrax (Schizophrys) White, 1848.[1]
