Rotello ist eine italienische Gemeinde (comune) mit 1114 Einwohnern (Stand 31. Dezember 2024) in der Provinz Campobasso in der Region Molise. Die Gemeinde liegt etwa 34,5 Kilometer nordöstlich von Campobasso und grenzt unmittelbar an die Provinz Foggia (Apulien).

Geschichte

Der Name der Ortschaft lautete ursprünglich Loritello. Im 11. Jahrhundert gründeten die Normannen die Grafschaft Loritello, die sich an den Ufern des Tronto in den Abruzzen, der Region Molise und in Apulien erstreckte. Diese Grafschaft wurde 1220 von Kaiser Friedrich II. endgültig aufgelöst und auf verschiedene Lehen aufgeteilt.

Verkehr

Durch die Gemeinde führt die frühere Strada Statale 376 dei Tre Titoli (heute die Provinzstraße 148) von Casacalenda nach Serracapriola.
