Reg Smith

Reginald „Reg“ Smith (* 6. Juni 1946 in Bexleyheath) ist ein ehemaliger britischer Radrennfahrer und nationaler Meister im Radsport.

Sportliche Laufbahn

Smith war im Straßenradsport und im Bahnradsport aktiv. Von 1968 bis 1985 war er Berufsfahrer. 1968 gewann er die Tour of the Peak, 1972 den Haverhill Grand Prix. Smith gewann während seiner Zeit als Radrennfahrer eine Reihe von Kriterien, Eintagesrennen und Etappen kürzerer Rundfahrten in Großbritannien. Zweiter wurde er 1978 in der Tour of Britain hinter Johan Van Der Velde. In der nationalen Straßenmeisterschaft wurde er 1968 und 1978 Dritter. Dritter wurde er auch 1969 in der Manx Trophy.

Auf der Bahn holte er 1971 den nationalen Titel in der Einerverfolgung der Profis, 1973 wurde er Dritter. Bei den Straßenradsport-Weltmeisterschaften 1968, 1969, 1973 und 1979 kam er nicht ins Ziel der Profirennen.
