Really Simple Licensing

Really Simple Licensing bzw. kurz RSL ist ein offener Standard für den Schutz von Inhalten im Internet. RSL basiert technisch auf RSS, verfolgt aber das Ziel, Internet-Inhalte durch maschinenlesbare und transparente Lizenzangaben „fit für das KI-Zeitalter“ zu machen. Der Standard erfüllt damit einen ähnlichen Zweck wie der Robots Exclusion Standard, auch bekannt als robots.txt.[1]

Verbreitung

Der Standard soll die zu einfache Ja-/Nein-Logik der bisher genutzten robots.txt zu einer „universellen Sprache für Inhaltsrechte und Lizenzbedingungen“ erweitern. Damit können Webseitenbetreiber regeln, welche Inhalte etwa Suchmaschinen wie nutzen dürfen. So lassen sich beispielsweise bestimmte Inhalte von der KI-Nutzung ausschließen, also auch als KI-Suchergebnis. Neben Organisationen wie Cloudflare, Akamai, Creative Commons und dem Verband der Online-Werbebranche IAB wurde RSL bei der Vorstellung 2025 bereits von mehr als 1500 Medienunternehmen befürwortet.[1]
