Raphael Keyes

Raphael Patrick Keyes war ein irischer Revolutionär und Politiker der Fianna Fáil, der von Februar 1932 bis Januar 1933 Teachta Dála (Abgeordneter) des Unterhauses (Dáil Éireann), und von 1934 bis 1936 Mitglied des Seanad Éireann, des Oberhauses des irischen Parlaments (Oireachtas) war.

Biografie

Keyes war in Cork geboren worden und Kinoeigentümer. Er war aktiv während des Unabhängigkeitskriegs und diente als Hauptmann (Captain) in der Bantry-Kompanie der IRA-Brigade im Cork County. Er war ein Gegner des Anglo-Irischen Vertrages. Bei den Wahlen im September 1927 im Wahlkreis Cork West verfehlte Keyes die notwendige Stimmenzahl, um in den Dáil gewählt zu werden. Erst bei den nachfolgenden Wahlen 1932 war er erfolgreich, verlor den Sitz aber bereits wieder bei den Wahlen 1933.[1] Er wurde im Januar 1934 für den verstorbenen Séamus Ryan in den Seanad Éireann nachgewählt.

Brady war mit Rose Conwell verheiratet.
