Preply ist eine globale Online-Sprachlernplattform mit Hauptsitz in den Vereinigten Staaten. Das Unternehmen verbindet Lernende mit Tutoren für Live-Einzelunterricht und nutzt dafür einen speziellen Empfehlungsalgorithmus.[1]

Preply wurde 2012 von Kirill Bigai, Serge Lukyanov und Dmytro Voloshyn gegründet und basiert auf einem Abo-Modell, das menschliche Lehrkräfte mit KI-gestützten Lerntools kombiniert. Preply betreibt eine Online-Plattform sowie eine mobile App für Live-Unterricht.[2]

Die Plattform verfügt über ein Netzwerk von 100.000 Tutoren, die Unterricht in 120 Fächern, darunter 90 Sprachen, anbieten.

Im Januar 2026 gab das Unternehmen den Abschluss einer Series-D-Finanzierungsrunde im Wert von 150 Millionen US-Dollar bekannt. Nach dieser Transaktion erreichte das Unternehmen eine Marktbewertung von 1,2 Milliarden US-Dollar und wurde somit als Einhorn-Unternehmen eingestuft.[3]
