Portumnus ist eine Gattung von Krabben innerhalb der Familie der Carcinidae mit zwei Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone und den Schelf in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 28 m in der gemäßigten Klimazone des Nordostatlantiks einschließlich des Mittelmeers.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis zu 28 mm lang, etwa so breit wie lang und oval bis birnenförmig. Die Stirn ist dreilappig. Der äußere Augenhöhlenwinkel steht stark nach vorn über, oft bis auf die Höhe der Stirn. Die Augenhöhlen sind U-förmig. Der Oberrand des Carpus und Propodus der Schreitbeine ist kammartig. Der Finger des letzten Schreitbeins ist spitz-spatelförmig und deutlich breiter als der der übrigen Schreitbeine.[2]

Die Gattung enthält folgende rezente Arten:[1]
