Polly ist im englischen Sprachraum ein weiblicher Vorname, wie Molly ursprünglich eine Koseform von Mary. In seinem Verbreitungsgebiet ist Polly auch ein stereotyper Name für Papageien (Polly wants a cracker ‚Polly möchte einen Keks‘).
