Patrick Clancy

Patrick Clancy (* 17. März 1877 in Bruff, County Limerick, Vereinigtes Königreich von Großbritannien und Irland; † 28. Februar 1947 ebenda) war ein irischer Politiker der Irish Labour Party. Er war von August 1923 bis Februar 1932 Teachta Dála (Abgeordneter) im Dáil Éireann, dem Unterhaus des irischen Parlaments (Oireachtas).

Werdegang

Clancy war Zimmermann wie sein Vater und wurde Gewerkschafter. Er gehörte den Irish Volunteers an und war Teil der IRA-Brigade East Limerick. Bei den Wahlen 1923 wurde er im Wahlkreis Limerick in den Dáil gewählt. Er konnte den Sitz bei den Wahlen im Juni und September 1927 halten, verlor den Sitz aber bei den Wahlen 1932, als er als unabhängiger Kandidat angetreten war.[1] Er trat dann nicht mehr zu Wahlen an.

Er war seit 1911 mit Bridget Higgins († 1921) verheiratet, mit der er vier Kinder hatte. Sein Bruder George Clancy war kurzzeitig Bürgermeister von Limerick, bis er im März 1921 von Black and Tans ermordet wurde.
