Paro College of Education (tibetisch སྤ་རོ་ཤེས་རིག་མཐོ་རིམ་སློབ་གྲྭ། Wylie spa ro shes rig mtho rim slob grwa) ist eines der konstituierenden Colleges der Royal University of Bhutan (འབྲུག་རྒྱལ་འཛིན་གཙུག་ལག་སློབ་སྡེ་; 'brug rgyal-'dzin gtsug-lag-slob-sde).

Geschichte

Die Hochschule begann als Lehrerausbildungszentrum für die Vorschulerziehung, das am 4. November 1974 mit fünf weiblichen Auszubildenden offiziell eröffnet wurde und als Modellschule auf dem Rinpung-Campus diente.

In dem Dokument „Ziele der Vorschullehrerin“ (Kuensel, 5. Dezember 1977) heißt es, dass die Einrichtung den Bedürfnissen der Zeit gerecht werden sollte. Sie hatte 300 Schüler.

Dasho Nado Rinchen war als Sonderbeauftragter (OSD) für die Ausbildung bhutanischer Lehrkräfte zuständig. Aum Dasho Gagay Lhamu war die erste Schulleiterin der Modellschule. Das Lehrerausbildungszentrum (TTC) umfasste die Bereiche Pädagogik, Gemeindeentwicklung, Gesundheit und Hygiene sowie Schulorganisation. Am 24. November 1977 schloss der erste Jahrgang von 15 Frauen die Lehrerausbildung (“teacher graduates”) am TTC ab.

Der neue akademische Campus des Lehrerbildungszentrums in Nangkha wurde am 18. November 1999 von ihrer Königin Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck eingeweiht.
