Orchidometer (schematisch)

Ein Orchidometer, auch Orchiometer, ist ein medizinisches Instrument zur Bestimmung der Größe menschlicher Hoden. Das Orchidometer wurde 1955 vom Endokrinologen Andrea Prader der Universität Zürich eingeführt. Es besteht aus einer Kette mit zwölf nummerierten Perlen in Form eines Ellipsoids aus Holz oder Kunststoff, aufsteigend von 1 bis 25 Kubikzentimetern. Der Arzt vergleicht bei der Untersuchung durch Abtasten die Hoden des Patienten mit der Skala des Orchidometers.
