Neohymenicus ist eine Gattung der Krabben mit zwei Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone Tiefen bis 10 m in der gemäßigten Klimazone Neuseelands und Japans.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax von Neohymenicus wird bis zu 6,5 mm lang. Der für die Hymenosomatidae typische Randsaum ist ohne Rostrum (mittiger Stirnfortsatz) so lang wie breit und nahezu rund. Das Rostrum ist dreieckig und ohne Borsten an der Spitze. Die fünf Somiten des Pleons und das Pleotelson (Verschmelzung aus sechstem Somit und Telson) sind bei beiden Geschlechtern frei beweglich. Die dritten Maxillipeden bedecken den Mundraum nahezu vollständig. Die Finger der Schreitbeine sind gebogen und tragen dicht vor dem Ende einen stumpfen Zahn. Das erste Gonopodium ist sichelförmig, hat eine verdickte Basis und ein schmaleres, stark gebogenes Endstück. Kurz vor dem Ende sitzt eine Reihe langer Borsten.[2]
