Mort Garson

Mort Garson (* 20. Juli 1924 in Saint John (New Brunswick); † 4. Januar 2008 in San Francisco) war ein kanadischer Arrangeur und Komponist.

Leben

Garson studierte an der Juilliard School in New York City. Er war anfangs Pianist und arrangierte Tanzorchester, dann leitete er Studiobands. Er begleitete dabei zahlreiche bekannte Sängerinnen und Sänger wie Vikki Carr, Patti Page, Esther Phillips und Red Skelton.

Er leitete das Studio-Orchester Hollyridge Strings und war für das Fernsehen und den Film tätig. Als einer der ersten Komponisten setzte er dabei elektronische Musik im Film ein.

Garson komponierte unter anderem Our Day Will Come, einen Hit von Frankie Valli (1975) sowie Au revoir is Goodbye With a Smile.
