Michael Calnan

Michael John Calnan (* 21. Juni 1943 in London, Vereinigtes Königreich von Großbritannien und Nordirland; † 21. Oktober 2025 in Cork, Irland) war ein früherer irischer Politiker der Irish Labour Party. Er war von Februar 1993 bis September 1997 Mitglied des Seanad Éireann, des Oberhauses des irischen Parlaments (Oireachtas).

Biografie

Calnan studierte am University College Cork. Er war Lehrer und stellvertretender Schulleiter an einer weiterführenden Schule in Dunmanway. Calnan kandidierte für die Irish Labour Party bei den Wahlen zum Dáil Éireann im Februar 1982, 1992 und 1997 im Wahlkreis Cork South-West. Er blieb jedes Mal ohne Erfolg. 1993 gelang es ihm, über die Landwirtschaftsliste in den 20. Seanad Éireann einzuziehen.[1] 1974 war Calnan erstmals in den Cork County Council gewählt worden. 2009 trat er nicht mehr zu den Kommunalwahlen an.
