Majs (deutsch Maisch, kroatisch Majša, serbisch Мајиш) ist eine ungarische Gemeinde im Kreis Mohács im Komitat Baranya.

Geografische Lage

Majs liegt 34 Kilometer südöstlich des Komitatssitzes Pécs und 11 Kilometer südwestlich der Stadt Mohács. Nachbargemeinden sind Nagynyárád, Sátorhely und Bezedek.

Geschichte

Im Jahr 1913 gab es in der damaligen Kleingemeinde 393 Häuser und 1951 Einwohner auf einer Fläche von 5569 Katastraljochen.[1] Sie gehörte zu dieser Zeit zum Bezirk Mohács im Komitat Baranya.

Verkehr

Durch Majs verläuft die Landstraße Nr. 5702. Es bestehen Busverbindungen nach Mohács sowie über Villány nach Siklós. Der nächstgelegene Bahnhof befindet sich in Nagynyárád.
