Lowdham ist eine Gemeinde (Civil Parish) im Distrikt Newark und Sherwood in der Grafschaft Nottinghamshire in den East Midlands von England.

Der im Nachbarort Southwell, keine 10 km nördlich, geborene Harold Cottam (1891–1984) zog nach einem bewegten Leben im Jahr 1958 hierhin und starb hier im Alter von 93 Jahren. In der Nacht vom 14. auf den 15. April 1912 war er es, der an Bord des Passagierschiffs Carpathia den Notruf der Titanic empfing[1] und durch sein Handeln entscheidend dazu beitrug, 705 Überlebende aus dem Meer zu retten.[2] Ihm zu Ehren wurde am Pub The Old Ship Inn (Gedenkplakette) eine Gedenkplakette angebracht (Bild).
