CCAFS

Der Launch Complex 4 (LC-4) ist eine stillgelegte Startrampe der Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (ehemals CCAFS) auf Merritt Island, Cape Canaveral in Florida, USA. Sie wurde in den 1950er und zu Beginn der 1960er Jahre für Starts zur Entwicklung und zum Test des Bomarc-Abfangsflugkörpers, der Redstone-Rakete und des Matador-Marschflugkörpers verwendet.

Geschichte

Ursprünglich wurde die Startrampe zusammen mit LC-1, LC-2 und LC-3 für das Snark-Marschflugkörperprogramm gebaut.

Nach dem letzten Bomarc-Start 1960 wurden einige Gebäude des Startkomplexes als medizinische Versorgungseinrichtungen im Mercury-Programm verwendet. Zuletzt wurde der Startplatz in den 1980er Jahren für Aerostat Radarballons genutzt.
