Kwai Chung (chinesisch 葵涌, Pinyin Kuíchōng, Jyutping Kwai4cung1) ist ein Stadtgebiet in den New Territories von Hong Kong.[1] Zusammen mit Tsing Yi Island ist es ein Teil des Kwai Tsing District von Hong Kong.

Verwaltung

Wahlkreise bei der Bezirksratwahl 2003. Kwai Chung befindet sich auf der rechten Seite.

Traditionell ist Kwai Chung in Sheung Kwai Chung (上葵涌; Upper Kwai Chung) und Ha Kwai Chung (下葵涌; Lower Kwai Chung) aufgeteilt. Administrativ wird es in Nord Kwai Chung und Süd Kwai Chung eingeteilt.

Die Postleitzahl des Bezirks ist 999077.[2]

Sheung Kwai Chung, Chung Kwai Chung Village und Ha Kwai Chung Village sind anerkannte Teile der New Territories Small House Policy.[3]

Wirtschaft

In Kwai Chung befindet sich der größte und meist frequentierteste Containerhafen von Hong Kong, das sogenannte Kwai Chung Container Terminal.[4] Er gilt nach den Containerhäfen von Singapur und Shanghai als der drittgrößte der Welt.[5]

In dem Gebiet befindet sich außerdem der Hauptsitz von Kerry Logistics.[6]
