Kogatana
Der Begriff Kogatana (jap. 小刀, vgl. Katana, Homograph mit Shōtō) setzt sich aus den Schriftzeichen „klein“ und „Messer/Schwert“ zusammen und bedeutet sowohl im Japanischen als auch im Chinesischen (Lesung: xiǎodāo) „(kleines) Messer“.
Im Deutschen bezeichnet Kogatana:
- Das Beimesser, das in der Scheide japanischer Schwerter mitgeführt wird. Der oft schmuckvolle Metallgriff dieses Messers wird Kozuka genannt.
- Eine Art Werkzeugmesser, das im Japanischen als Kiridashi bzw. Kiridashi-kogatana bezeichnet wird.
