Joe Roth (* 13. Juli 1948 in New York City) ist ein US-amerikanischer Filmregisseur, Filmproduzent und ehemaliger Vorstandsvorsitzender von 20th Century Fox (1989–1993) und den Walt Disney Studios (1994–2000).

Leben

Joe Roth wurde als Sohn von Lawrence Roth, einem Vorarbeiter einer Plastikfabrik, geboren.[1] 1959 assistierte er seinem Vater, den Versuch der American Civil Liberties Union zu unterstützen, das Gebet an öffentlichen Schulen zu untersagen. Der Klage wurde 1962 vom Obersten Gerichtshof der Vereinigten Staaten stattgegeben und das öffentliche Gebet als verfassungswidrig eingestuft. Der Fall ist unter dem Namen Engel v. Vitale bekannt geworden.[2]

Joe Roth ist mit der Produzentin Donna Arkoff Roth (* 1951) verheiratet, wodurch er der Schwager des Produzenten Lou Arkoff und der Schwiegersohn des verstorbenen Filmproduzenten Samuel Z. Arkoff ist.
