James Victory

James Victory (1927)

James Victory (* 1880; † 5. August 1946) war ein irischer Politiker der Fianna Fáil. Er war von Juni bis September 1927 und von 1933 bis 1937 Teachta Dála (Abgeordneter) im Dáil Éireann, dem irischen Unterhaus des Oireachtas.

Biografie

Victory war Landwirt. Als Republikaner kandidierte er erstmals bei den Wahlen 1923 im Wahlkreis Longford-Westmeath für den Dáil, wurde jedoch nicht gewählt. Erst bei den Wahlen im Juni 1927 gelang es ihm, einen Sitz zu erringen. Aber schon im September 1927 verlor er den Sitz wieder und konnte ihn auch bei den Wahlen 1932 nicht zurückgewinnen. Dies gelang ihm erst bei den Wahlen 1933. Er konnte ihn auch im neu zugeschnittenen Wahlkreis Athlone-Longford bei den Wahlen 1937 und 1938 verteidigen. Bei den Wahlen 1943 und 1944 konnte er jedoch nicht genügend Stimmen für einen Sitz im Dáil erreichen.[1]
