HMS Janus
HMS Janus ist der Name folgender britischer Schiffe, die nach Janus, dem doppelgesichtigen römischen Gott benannt sind:
- HMS Janus (1778), ein Schiff der 5. Klasse mit 44 Kanonen der Roebuck-Klasse, das 1778 vom Stapel lief und später im Jahr in HMS Dromedary umbenannt wurde. 1780 lief es auf die Parasol Rocks bei Trinidad und sank.
- HMS Janus (1796), ein Kriegsschiff 5. Klasse mit 32 Kanonen. In den Niederlanden als Argo gebaut, wurde sie 1796 von der HMS Phoenix gekapert, ab 1798 im Hafendienst eingesetzt und 1811 verkauft.
- HMS Janus (1844), eine hölzerne Sloop mit Schaufelradantrieb, die 1844 vom Stapel lief und 1856 verkauft wurde.
- HMS Janus (1856), ein hölzernes Kanonenboot der Clown-Klasse mit Schraubenantrieb, das 1856 von Stapel lief. Wurde 1869 in YC 6 umbenannt und als Kohlenleichter eingesetzt und 1917 verkauft.
- HMS Janus (1895), ein Zerstörer der Janus-Klasse, der 1895 vom Stapel lief und 1912 verkauft wurde.
- Janus (Schiff, 1939), ein Zerstörer der J-Klasse, der 1938 vom Stapel lief und 1944 versenkt wurde.
