HMS Highflyer

Mehrere Schiffe der britischen Royal Navy trugen den Namen HMS Highflyer (Highflyer = der Hochfliegende).

  • Die erste HMS Highflyer war ein Schoner mit 8 Kanonen, ursprünglich ein amerikanischer Freibeuter, der im Januar 1813 erbeutet und in die Royal Navy übernommen, aber am 23. September desselben Jahres durch die US-Fregatte President zurückerobert wurde.
  • Die zweite HMS Highflyer war ein Flottentender mit 2 Kanonen, der 1822–1833 von der Royal Navy verwendet wurde.
  • Die dritte HMS Highflyer war eine Fregatte mit Holzrumpf und Schraubenantrieb, die 1851 vom Stapel lief und 1871 abgewrackt wurde.
  • Die vierte HMS Highflyer war ein Kreuzer 2. Klasse, der 1898 vom Stapel lief und 1921 zum Abwracken verkauft wurde.
