Fibrille
Eine Fibrille (Verkleinerungsform von Fiber, lateinisch fibra ‚Faser‘; Adjektiv fibrillär) ist eine mikroskopisch kleine Faser. Es handelt sich um längliche Strukturen, die ein wesentlicher Bestandteil pflanzlicher Zellwände, der Muskeln, der Nerven und der Grundsubstanz des Bindegewebes sind. Sie bestehen aus Polysacchariden (wie Cellulose) oder Proteinen (wie Keratin).
Fibrillen sind oft zu Bündeln zusammengefasst, die größere Faserstrukturen bilden, und setzen sich ihrerseits aus Mikrofibrillen zusammen.

- Mikrofibrillen in der Zellwand von Pflanzen
- Myofibrillen in Muskelzellen
- Neurofibrillen in Nervenzellen
- Tonofibrillen in Epithelzellen
- Kollagenfibrillen, die in der Kittsubstanz des hyalinen Knorpels eingebettet sind
- Chromatinfibrillen, kondensierte Chromatinfäden
- Makro- und Mikrofibrillen in den Cortexzellen der Haare
- Fibrillen finden sich manchmal auch auf dem Kapsid von Viruspartikeln (Virionen), z. B. bei Riesenviren (wie Mimivirus, Orpheovirus) und Rudiviren
