Alice Van Eesbeeck, bekannt als Essyla (* 30. März 1996 in Perwez) ist eine belgische Sängerin. Sie vertrat Belgien beim Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Wien mit dem Lied Dancing on the Ice.

Leben

Der Künstlername Essyla ist die umgekehrte Aussprache ihres Vornamens Alice.[2]

Essyla stammt aus Perwez in der Provinz Wallonisch-Brabant. Sie macht seit ihrer Jugend Musik und gründete eine eigene Band. Später studierte sie am Institut supérieur de Musique et Pédagogie in Namur.[3] Im Jahr 2019 nahm Essyla gemeinsam mit dem Chor Almkalia bei der zweiten Edition des Eurovision Choir teil.[2]

Bekanntheit erlangte Essyla 2021, als sie an der neunten Staffel von The Voice Belgique teilnahm, wo sie im Finale hinter Jérémie Makiese den zweiten Platz belegte. In den darauf folgenden Jahren veröffentlichte sie ihre ersten Singles Let You Go und Not My Kind of Dude sowie ihre EP I’ll Be Okay.[4]

Essyla beim Eurovision Song Contest 2026

Am 19. Februar 2026 wurde bekanntgegeben, dass Essyla Belgien beim Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Wien vertreten soll.[5] Mit ihrem Lied Dancing on the Ice trat sie im ersten Halbfinale am 12. Mai an und qualifizierte sich für das Finale am 16. Mai.[6] Dort erreichte sie mit 36 Punkten den 21. Platz.[7]
