Ernst Altman

Ernst Altman (* Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts; † 8. Oktober 1916) war ein deutscher Schachkomponist aus München.

Altman galt als begabt.[1] Zu seinem Erbe gehört die Erweiterung der Definition des Kompositionsthemas „Römer“, welches zuvor von Johannes Kohtz und Carl Kockelkorn als „Hinlenkung eines Offiziers zum Schlag“ definiert worden war, auch auf die Weglenkung einer Schachfigur. Die Aufgabe im Diagramm wurde nach ihrem Erscheinen viel diskutiert.

Altman fiel im Ersten Weltkrieg.
