Embedder

Unter Embedder („einbetten“) wird in der Studiotechnik ein Gerät verstanden, das ein serielles digitales Signal mit zusätzlichen Daten anreichern kann. Dieses SDI-Signal transportiert primär den Videodatenstrom. Durch AES/EBU kann ein Audiodatenstrom eingebettet werden, dies wird als Embedded Audio bezeichnet. Die Einbettung erfolgt für SD-SDI-Signale gemäß SMPTE-Standard ST 272, für HD-SDI-Signale gemäß SMPTE-Standard ST 299.[1]

Neben dem Audiosignal ist die Einbettung weiterer Datenströme gemäß SMPTE-Standard ST 291 möglich. Dabei handelt es sich um benutzerdefinierbare Daten, u. a. Zeitstempel.[2]
