Der Begriff Effusion steht für
- einen Typ von Vulkanausbrüchen, siehe Effusion (Vulkanismus)
- das atom- oder molekülweise Entweichen von Stoffen aus Behältnissen, siehe Effusion (Physik)
- ein Verfahren zur Kühlung thermisch extrem hoch belasteter Komponenten, z. B. in Gasturbinen und Raketentriebwerken (Effusionskühlung)
- ein überbordendes Ausschütten von eigenen Gefühlen (des Schreibenden), siehe Effusion (Literaturwissenschaft)
- in der Psychologie ähnlich wie in der Literaturwissenschaft ein Ausschütten von Gefühlen, siehe Effusion (Psychologie)
- die kanadische Gesangsgruppe Effusion a cappella
- die Blutentnahme in der Medizin
Auch im allgemeinsprachlichen Gebrauch wird Effusion (von lateinisch effusio „Ausgießen, Ausgießung, Erguss, Ausfluss, Fließen, Fluss, Strom“), Effundieren (lat. effundere „ausfließen, sich verteilen“) und effusiv („in auslaufender Art“) relativ nahe am ursprünglichen Sinn der Herkunftsworte verwandt.
