Dynamic Trunking Protocol
Das Dynamic Trunking Protocol (DTP) ist ein proprietäres Netzwerkprotokoll der Firma Cisco Systems für lokale Netze.[1] Es dient dazu, dass zwei VLAN-fähige Switches untereinander aushandeln, ob ein Port automatisch einen VLAN-Trunk bilden soll. DTP wurde eingeführt, um die Switch-Konfiguration zu vereinfachen und Konfigurationsfehler zu vermeiden.
Aufgrund von Sicherheitsrisiken wird von der Verwendung abgeraten.[2]
Funktionsweise
Ein Trunk-Port dient der Übertragung von unterschiedlichen VLANs über eine einzige physische Verbindung. Das Verfahren ist als IEEE 802.1Q standardisiert; daneben gibt es noch ältere proprietäre Lösungen wie beispielsweise das Inter-Switch Link Protocol (ISL) von Cisco. Mit dem Dynamic Trunking Protocol können zwei benachbarte Geräte untereinander automatisch aushandeln, ob eine Verbindung einen VLAN-Trunking verwenden soll. Daneben kann auch ausgehandelt werden, ob 802.1Q oder ISL zur Kapselung verwendet wird.
Das Dynamic Trunking Protocol ist ein Punkt-zu-Punkt-Protokoll zwischen direkt miteinander verbundenen Ethernet-Netzwerkgeräten; eine Weiterleitung in der Broadcast-Domäne ist nicht vorgesehen. Ein Port, auf dem DTP aktiviert ist, sendet DTP-Frames an die MAC-Adresse 01-00-0C-CC-CC-CC. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine Multicast-Adresse, die auch von weiteren proprietären Cisco-Protokollen wie zum Beispiel dem VLAN Trunking Protocol, Port Aggregation Protocol oder Unidirectional Link Detection verwendet wird.
Konfiguration
Die Konfiguration erfolgt im Internetwork Operating System, indem ein Port in einen von fünf Modi versetzt wird:[1]
- switchport mode access
- Port ist einem VLAN fest zugeordnet und verwendet kein VLAN-Trunking.
- switchport mode trunk
- Port ist ein VLAN-Trunk.
- switchport mode dot1q-tunnel
- Port ist ein Tunnel, auf dem ein einzelnes Tunnel-VLAN konfiguriert wird. Über dieses Tunnel-VLAN können mehrere Kunden-VLANs transportiert werden. Auf dem Nachbarport wird das äußere Tunnel-VLAN wieder entfernt.[3]
- switchport mode dynamic desirable
- Aktive Aushandlung: Port wird Trunk, wenn sein Nachbarport am anderen Ende als trunk, dynamic desirable oder dynamic auto konfiguriert ist.
- switchport mode dynamic auto
- Passive Aushandlung: Port wird Trunk, wenn Nachbarport am anderen Ende als trunk oder dynamic desirable konfiguriert ist.
