daemontools ist eine Sammlung freier Software, mit der man Unix-Daemons verwaltet. Sie wurde von Daniel J. Bernstein als Verbesserung von Init-Diensten wie inittab, ttys, init.d oder rc.local geschrieben, so dass folgende Funktionen zur Verfügung stehen:
