Clare Anderson

Clare Anderson (* 21. Dezember 1969[1]) ist eine britische Historikerin, die an der University of Leicester forscht und lehrt.[2] 2023 wurde sie als Fellow (FBA) in die British Academy gewählt.[3]

Anderson machte ihr Master-Examen (Geschichtswissenschaft und Soziologie) an der University of Edinburgh, wo sie auch als Historikerin promoviert wurde. Sie unterbrach ihre Studien zweimal für ein Jahr und arbeitete als Englischlehrerin in Frankreich und Japan. 1997 wurde sie Dozentin am damaligen Institut für Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte der University of Leicester. 2007 wechselte sie als Reader an das Institut für Soziologie der University of Warwick. 2011 kehrte sie als Professorin für Geschichte nach Leicester zurück.[2]

Im Mittelpunkt ihrer Forschungen steht die Globalgeschichte, dabei gilt ihr besonderes Interesse der Geschichte und dem Erbe kolonialer Gefängnisse, Strafkolonien sowie Zwangsmigration und Zwangsarbeit. Sie war Gastwissenschaftlerin an der australischen University of Technology, Sydney und der University of Tasmania.[2]
