Cents in Luxemburg-Stadt

Cents (luxemburgisch Zensⓘ/?) ist ein Stadtteil im Osten von Luxemburg-Stadt. Ende 2018 lebten 6.316 Personen im Quartier.[1] Die Fläche des Stadtteils beträgt 173 Hektar.

Heilig-Geist-Kirche in Cents

Cents war lange ein ländlich geprägtes Viertel mit Bauernhöfen, welches erst ab den 1960er-Jahren urbanisiert wurde. In dieser Zeit entstanden neue Wohnviertel und Bürogebäude. Bereits 1937 wurde ein Kloster der Karmelitinnen errichtet.

Die Rue de Trèves führt vom Quartier Grund kommend in Richtung Trier. Die 1991 eröffnete Haltestelle Cents-Hamm[2] liegt an der Bahnstrecke Luxemburg–Wasserbillig, über ihn sind sowohl der Bahnhof Luxemburg als auch Trier Hauptbahnhof in Deutschland erreichbar. Cents liegt unweit des Flughafens Luxemburg und besitzt eine Busanbindung dorthin.

Sehenswürdigkeiten

An Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu nennen:

  • Katholische Kirche Heiliger Geist von 1980
  • Platz mit Aussicht über die ganze Stadt Luxemburg im Kéibierg (direkt beim Busstop Kéibierg-I.N.S.)
