Buttigieg (maltesisch: Buttiġieġ) Aussprache/?, maltesisch: [bʊtːɪd͡ʒɪːt͡ʃ]) ist ein maltesischer Familienname. Er leitet sich vom sizilianischen Arabisch أبو الدجاج Abu-d-dajāj(i) ab und bezeichnet einen Geflügelhändler oder -züchter (von abu („Vater, Herr, Besitzer“) und dajāj („Geflügel“)).[1]
